SOLBERG Recognized by US Department of State for Emergency Supply of Firefighting Foam
The SOLBERG Company, the world’s foremost innovator of firefighting foam concentrates
and systems hardware, announced today the company has been recognized by the U.S. Department of State for the company’s assistance in combating the sulfur fires in Mishraq, Iraq.
An emergency response request for firefighting foam was answered by SOLBERG and delivered both from Wisconsin and Norway. A total of 75,437 gallons (285,560 liters) [1,372 drums] of foam was delivered for airlift out of Oslo, Norway, Chicago, IL and McGuire AFB in New Jersey. The order came to SOLBERG through two channels.
In Norway, the request came through the U.S. State Department while in the United States the order was issued through the U.S. Military. Delivery of foam to each of the airlift locations was a critical measure. Foam concentrate had to be delivered in the shortest time possible, orders were received, product manufactured, packaged and shipped for delivery within 4 to 5 days.
“This effort was truly the result of interagency and international cooperation. The Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction is extremely grateful to all of you that answered phone calls and emails well after midnight, reached out to friends of friends, and worked tirelessly and creatively to quell the blaze,” Phillip Dolliff, director of the Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction in the U.S. Department of State, said in a letter.
