Securiton Protects Coahuila State Penitentiary:Construction of Mexico’s high-security Coahuila State penitentiary near the town of Ramos Arizpe came to an end this autumn. An area of 134,000 m2 within the 100 hectare facility features a range of buildings including cell blocks, administrative offices, catering areas, multi-purpose rooms, a gym and a police headquarters. The facility is designed to hold 2500 inmates from all over the country.
General contractor Tradeco awarded the contract for installing the fire alarm system to Safe City, our partner in Guadalajara. The system comprises 21 SecuriFire 2000 and three SecuriFire 3000 fire detection and alarm systems featuring 6000 SecuriStar MCD 573X multi-sensor smoke and heat detectors and three ASD 532 aspirating smoke detectors. Three ADW 535 line type heat detectors were installed in the kitchen, while 123 SecuriBeam BSD 535 beam smoke detectors safeguard the various halls.
Safe City was awarded the contract by Traveco due to the installer’s flexibility during the negotiations and its willingness to establish its installation team nearby, which proved a difficult undertaking, as the penitentiary is in the middle of the desert. This project shows once again that close and professional collaboration with our partners is a recipe for success.
