Metropolitano de São Paulo, known as the Metro, is a railway system serving the city of Sao Paulo. Founded on April 24, 1968, the company is responsible for the planning, design, construction and operation of the metropolitan transportation system in the region of São Paulo and has most of its controlling interest associated with the state government.
The Metro has a total line length of 74.3 km and carries 3.4 million passengers daily. In 2010 the Sao Paulo Metro was voted the best rail transit system in Latin America in the Metro Awards.
Securiton’s Brazilian partner Engesul was commissioned with the installation of several high-sensitivity ASD 535 aspirating smoke detectors, MCD 573 multi-criteria detectors and SecuriFire fire alarm control panels in the main stations to protect passengers on their journey.
