The University of Brighton has initiated the purchase of Innohome Stove Guards for its residential halls. The Stove Guard is a smart way to guard against kitchen fires because it responds before the formation of toxic gases and before a fire is ignited.
45 Stove Guard systems were fitted to newly refurbished student kitchens in 2014. After this successful trial period, an additional 109 units have now been installed in the remainder of the University of Brighton Halls of Residence.
During the trial period, the residential kitchens involved had only one false smoke alarm system activation. At the same period in the previous year, these premises had eleven false alarm activations. Thus the early intervention of the Stove Guard has also contributed to a reduction of unwanted false alarm activations.
