Monitors are often selected to protect marine terminals or refining installations where it is required to approach the fire from a certain height above ground.
In this respect SA Fire Protection has developed a series of self-standing modular designed structures that may be used to locate monitors at elevations above those of protected targets. The structure is available in carbon steel and low temperature carbon steel in order to cope with the most stringent environmental requirements of the northern and southern part of the globe.
The internal waterway varies depending on the fluid and design temperature from carbon steel for industrial water to Stainless Steel or Cu-Ni for sea water applications. All towers are designed to be equipped with remote controlled monitor together with rotating turrets (See DS. B.50.30.10.10) which are advised when the targets to be achieved pretend the monitor to discharge in negative angle on the vertical plane.
The rotating turret in fact add an extra elevation to the monitor with respect to the base flange of the fixed platform and such avoid the infringement of the jet or fog on the handrails. The towers can be equipped with a cooling system that safeguard the structure from external heat radiated by the nearby fires. These towers are available between 4m – 7m with no intermediate platform, 8m – 15m with 1 intermediate platform, 16m – 23m with 2 intermediate platforms as standard (other height are possible upon request).
