Our History
1956
John H. Lawlor founds the company with the purchase of Walter Kidde Sales & Service Company.
1960s
The company expands to provide fixed systems and services.
1965
Company changes name to Keystone Fire Protection in honor of its Pennsylvania roots.
1970s
Keystone becomes one of the first distributors to carry DuPont’s Halon 1301 and adds systems design and installation.
1986
Keystone’s reputation for comprehensive fire protection services helps the company’s consistent growth and, son, John M. Lawlor, joins the company.
1993
John M. Lawlor named company President and a series of acquisitions expands the company’s geographic coverage into New Jersey.
1997
NAFED (The National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors) names John M. Lawlor as its President.
2000s (Early)
Acquisitions continue and John M. Lawlor nominated to the Presidency of the Fire Suppression Alliance (FSA) and of the National Independent Fire Alarm Distributors (NIFAD), two industry trade associations.
2011
Keystone receives the prestigious SBA Small Family Business of the Year Award.
2013
Keystone wins it’s first of four consecutive SmartCEO Magazine’s Future 50 Award acknowledging business growth.
2014
Tag We’re It — An exclusive line of branded inspection, maintenance and warranty plans from Keystone are launched.
