FSi Promat Launches Single-Sided Fire Stopping Solutions

FSi Promat has introduced a new range of third-party tested single-sided fire stopping solutions, designed to make installation easier while offering potential cost savings for projects where access is limited or destructive work is impractical.

The UK-based manufacturer of fire stopping systems has developed and tested various products to meet the growing industry demand for proven single-sided tested solutions, particularly suited for retrofit or refurbishment projects in occupied buildings, such as apartments or multi-occupancy properties.

FSi Promat’s latest single-sided systems have been third-party tested with many applications achieving EI120 fire resistance, including large cable trays and baskets. Tested in accordance with EN 1366-3 for penetration seals, the fire stopping systems achieved up to two hours of fire resistance across a wide range of installations. These new solutions expand the options available for compliant fire stopping when only one side of a wall is accessible.

The comprehensive testing program covered copper pipes up to EI90, CPVC pipes up to EI90, cables and cable bundles to EI60, plastic pipes up to EI120, and cable trays and steel trunking to EI60–EI120.

This new range directly responds to customer feedback, which highlighted the need for certified fire stopping systems that can be installed from a single side a frequent challenge in retrofit and redevelopment projects.

In many refurbishment settings, particularly multi-occupant environments, relocating residents to access both sides of a wall can be costly and disruptive. FSi Promat’s single-sided fire stopping solutions provide a tested and compliant option that minimizes disruption while maintaining safety and performance standards.

Paul Nash, Firestop Manager at FSi Promat, part of the Etex Group, said:

“We know from our customers that access can be a huge challenge—and a major cost driver—on refurbishment jobs, especially where relocation is normally needed to access occupied areas such as apartments. Our single-sided solutions help address those challenges, reducing cost, planning issues, and disruption to occupants.”

He added that the new range reflects FSi Promat’s ongoing commitment to customer-driven innovation, ensuring safety, compliance, and practicality for modern fire protection challenges.
