Fire Logistics Ltd – Largest Independent Fire Sprinkler & Extinguisher Company in the North East
Fire Logistics Ltd was established in 1999 by Managing Director Mike Graham. Fire Logistics is now the largest independent fire sprinkler and fire extinguisher company in the North East of England and covers the whole of the UK and Scotland.
Mike has over thirty years experience of the business. From an apprentice draughtsman, progressing to estimating surveyor with Mather and Platt, Mike worked as an electrical and mechanical QS before opening and running the North East branch of Matthew Hall Merroll, sprinkler contractors. Mike was later a director of Fire Watch, playing a key role in the rapid development of this business, prior to its purchase by UK Fire.
Specialists in Fire Protection
Mike recognised an opening in the marketplace for a specialist fire safety company, combining a high service level with a strong engineering approach to the business.
Says Mike “At Fire Logistics we have assembled a team of highly experienced professionals, able to respond to serious challenges in both the design and installation of sprinkler systems. The UK fire regulations are very comprehensive, for good reasons, but they can also be restrictive in particular situations. We have had numerous projects where we have pooled all of our expertise to develop a practical and effective fire protection solution.”
Domestic Sprinkler System Protection
Alistair Rook joined us in 2007 and is fully experienced and qualified in the design of sprinkler protection systems. He also manages labour allocation and project manages a number of our contracts. He is also in charge of design and project management for residential care homes in addition to domestic (house) sprinkler protection.
Richard Cowdery is our trainee and Fire Logistics hope to develop his career in the design and project management of sprinkler protection. We have recognised the dearth of young talent in the fire protection industry and we are taking these positive steps to ensure the long term continuity of the service that Fire Logistics provides to its clients.
Directly Employed Installation Engineers
We are the only fire sprinkler specialist in the North East with directly employed installation engineers. Others have maintenance staff but they subcontract the system installation. The benefits of our approach for our clients, is that we have total control of all installations, and we always seek to maximise the suitability of each installation for every client.
We also have all competency records and accreditations for all of our installation engineers.
Fire Logistics Ltd Qualified Engineers
All of our engineers are fully competent in the installation of sprinkler protection, underground fire mains and pump houses. All engineers have been trained and have the following skill cards:
- IPAF
- PASMA
- CSCS
- Client/Contractor National Safety Passport.
- Fire Extinguisher Division
Our Fire Extinguisher Division Manager, Helen Watson, is responsible for extinguisher sales and maintenance agreements. She heads up new client development and customer liaison, as well as the extinguisher servicing activities.
As Divisional Manager, Fire Extinguisher Divisional Manager, Helen is responsible for extinguisher sales and maintenance agreements. She heads up new client development and customer liaison, as well as the servicing activities.
Helen stresses that Fire Logistics role is much stronger than simply responding to service requests.”Many of our customers rely on us to keep them aware and compliant as far as fire safety is concerned. We keep a log of all customers’ extinguisher stock and inspection dates and are proactive in ensuring service dates are met. This gives clients peace of mind and enables us to schedule servicing in the most efficient, cost effective manner”.
Fire Safety Training
Helen also organises fire risk assessments and safety training. Says Helen “We see an enormous variation in the quality of Fire Safety Training and Risk Assessments. Some Risk Assessments are not much more than a 10 page tick box documents, with little in terms of advice and guidance. Our training and assessments are thorough, undertaken by an assessor who is an ex-fire office and highly respected in the field”
