Electric ON/OFF Pressure Regulating Double Chamber Deluge Valve VDD/RPOF/E supplied by SA Fire Protection

The valve Mod. VDD/RPOF/E is a double chamber is an electric actuated pressure regulating deluge valve available in diameter sizes from 3” (DN 80) to 8” (DN 200). The two priming chambers, each one provided with its own diaphragm and control trim, provide fully redundancy improving the safety availability of the system.

The pressure regulating deluge valves Mod. VDD/RPOF/E are used to control the pressure of water or foam/water flow for water spray or foam fire protection systems.

In normal operating conditions, the deluge valve is held closed by the control solenoid valves. In case of fire the solenoid valves will open allowing the deluge valve to open and control the downstream pressure. When the solenoid valves is closed also the deluge valve will return in closed position.

The pressure regulating deluge valve Mod. VDD/PROF/E is available in vertical or horizontal configuration. The cover plates allows in-line maintenance and field replace of the diaphragm.

The materials of construction make it suitable for being used with sea water or water foam solution within industrial harsh environments & offshore applications

Principle of operation

In normal operating conditions (valve closed) the water is supplied to the priming chambers through the trims. The pressure of the water trapped in the priming chambers holds the diaphragms on the valve seats, keeping the valve closed.

Each trim is held closed by the solenoid valve and the emergency manual release.

In fire conditions (valve open) the opening of the two solenoid valves via remote signals releases the pressure from the two control chambers. The water supply pressure in the inlet chamber forces the diaphragms off from seat, allowing water to flow into the system and the alarm devices. Alternatively, the deluge valve can be opened locally through the emergency manual releases.

The pressure regulating pilot valves maintain the pressure downstream the deluge valve at the set pressure.

During maintenance (one chamber isolated) the two priming chambers can be alternatively isolated and inspected turning the in-built isolation valves, keeping the fire protection system in service through the other chamber.

The control trim of the chamber under maintenance can be isolated closing the hydraulic bridge, allowing the maintenance procedures to be performed keeping the fire protection system in service through the other chamber and the other trim.
