Cooker cut off and stove guard devices

by Marcus Carter

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and the University of Brighton are using technology to cut the risks of kitchen fires.

The University has fitted stove guards in student accommodation on campus.

These cut off devices can be attached to both gas and electric hobs. A sensor monitors the use of the hob and identifies when there is a steep rise in temperature. It then automatically turns off electricity or gas supplies.
