Geofire began life in 1972 and has, since then, been designing and manufacturing a wide range of electromagnetic activation devices, ranging from fire door holders and closers to smoke curtain releasers and roof vent winches. We export and distribute our products across the world.

Our manufacturing facilities were purpose built to meet the existing and future capacity demands of the business and the capability for large or small volume orders. We continue to invest in the latest CNC machinery to improve efficiency and have a clear focus on continuous improvement in lean and efficient cellular manufacturing.

Research and development is key to our business strategy, ensuring we lead the way in new innovations.

Geofire is a product brand of Stephenson Gobin, which is a British Engines company. The British Engines Group employs 1,500 people in its six engineering businesses based throughout the north east of England. It also has offices throughout the world including Australia, USA, India, South Africa, Singapore and Germany. We benefit from the core services and people orientated culture of our parent company, which includes taking on apprentices as part of the British Engines Apprenticeship Scheme.

SG Transmission is also a product brand of Stephenson Gobin. SG Transmission designs and manufactures a wide range of customised electromagnetic clutches, brakes and holding magnets.

All of our products are designed and manufactured in the UK by our in-house design team and skilled workforce. This ensures that we maintain the product quality we expect, but also enables flexibility and speed by working together on one site.

Our purpose built facilities have the capacity for mass production, as well as more specialised low volume production and our lean manufacturing processes ensure we can be competitive on price.

Geofire products are certified by independent bodies to the standards required by our many markets. For Europe that means CE marking to the Construction Products Regulation, R&TTE directive or EMC directive, using the relevant European standards.

We also offer products that are listed by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL), the Underwriters Laboratory Canada (ULC) and the California State Fire Marshal (CSFM).

Other national approvals can be obtained where required.
