About BRE Global
We are an innovative group of researchers, scientists, engineers and technicians who share a common goal – to make the built environment better for all.
We generate new knowledge through independent research. This is used to create the products, standards and qualifications that help to ensure buildings, homes and communities are safe, efficient, productive, sustainable and enjoyable places to be. Our customers use our expertise and services to deliver their social, environmental and economic goals.
We are BRE
BRE has been raising the standards of the built environment since 1921, and in the last few years has grown significantly, both through the achievements of our people and the acquisition of businesses with beliefs and goals aligned with our own.
Our multi-disciplinary teams include leading experts – working in world-class facilities – in virtually every element of the built environment. They operate internationally, with offices, representatives and partners around the globe, and at our Head Office and major facilities in the UK. Our long heritage of putting progressive thinking into practice means that our customers and partners, wherever they are in the world, trust us to deliver. BRE is part of the BRE Trust, which uses the profits we make from our services to fund new research and education programmes.
Our teams offer a huge range of advisory services, conduct innovative research, set and monitor industry standards, develop and deliver professional training courses, and provide independent, third-party certification services.
Our independent research generates the knowledge we use to create a wide range of tools that help construction professionals to deliver better, safer, less costly and more sustainable buildings and infrastructure.
The people working at BRE are our greatest resource. There are around 650 of us and each has an important role to play in our drive for a better built environment.
We have 95 years’ experience at the leading edge of building research and development, with parts of our organisation dating back even further. Our colourful history includes the building of a 1:50 scale model of the Möhne Dam for Barnes Wallis of bouncing bomb fame. Visitors to our Watford site can still see the model
