UL in partnership with the Association of Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is pleased to be able to offer a Level 2 Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection course over three consecutive days.
The training course is the first in the UK and Ireland which enables candidates to study and obtain a recognised qualification in passive fire protection. Individuals who undertake the training will have the opportunity to progress to the Level 2 qualifications in Passive Fire Protection, provided by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), a nationally and internationally recognised awarding organisation regulated by the qualification regulators Ofqual and CCEA.
The content of the training course has been designed by industry experts; it covers the essential aspects of fire protection and adds a context for the attendee, via the varied experience of the UL training team.
UL’s course trainers use a blend of slides, videos and activities that offer the learner a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience. The detailed information will be useful both for the delegates’ work role and sitting the exam.
When?
The training is delivered by experienced passive fire protection experts over three consecutive days and two evenings:
- Tuesday 26 November: 9 am – 8 pm
- Wednesday 27 November: 9 am – 8 pm
- Thursday 28 November: 9 am – 5 pm
What’s covered in the course?
The course offers a foundation in fire safety and fire science as well as units on different forms of passive fire protection and is structured in four modules:
Module 1: Essential underpinning knowledge, fire science
Module 2: Installation of Passive Fire Protection
- Unit 2: Fire resisting walls, floors and ceiling and fire resistant glazing
- Unit 3: Fire stopping, penetration seals, cavity barriers, ductwork and dampers and the building envelope
- Unit 3: Fire stopping, penetration seals, cavity barriers, ductwork and dampers and the building envelope
Module 3 : Understanding active fire protection
Module 4: Understanding building regulations, approved documentation, regulatory guidance, CDM, CE marking and codes of practice and BIM
Who should attend?
The course is suitable for those involved in the construction industry from designers and specifiers to contractors and specialist installers. It is also suitable for building owners/managers, enforcement agencies and fire risk assessors.
Cost
ASFP Members – £1,100 plus VAT
Non-ASFP Members – £1,600 plus VAT
IFE Members – £1,360 plus VAT
Coffee, tea and water are available all day. Lunch is provided on all three days and dinner is included on the 26th and 27th November.
