Amazon fulfillment center safe thanks to ASDs (aspirating smoke detectors): Amazon’s new fulfillment center in Torrazza Piemonte, 25 km northeast of Turin, was built to satisfy growing customer needs and support more third-party sellers. Amazon has invested 140 million Euros in the new building. The Torrazza site is equipped with advanced Amazon Robotics technology. The robots lift products and move them through the fulfillment centre to the employees working stations.

Amazon has invested more than €800 million and has created more than 3,000 jobs in Italy since its opening in 2010. The Castel San Giovanni fulfillment center, Amazon’s first logistics site in Italy, opened in 2011 and the 1,500 square meters Urban Fulfillment in Milan to serve Amazon Prime Now customers in 2015.
In September 2017, Amazon new fulfillment centers of Passo Corese (RI) and Vercelli started operations: Amazon invested €150 million and €65 million in the two facilities, creating 1,200 new jobs at Passo Corese and 600 jobs at Vercelli within three years from launch to further support the growing increases in customer demand and accommodate the fast growth of the Amazon product catalog. Over the last two years, Amazon launched also one sortation center in Castel San Giovanni and eight delivery stations in Avigliana (TO), Origgio (VA), Rogoredo (MI), Crespellano (BO), Calenzano (FI), Vigonza (PD), Pomezia (RI) and Fiano Romano (RI).
Early Waring fire detection at Amazon’s huge site is based on 129 units ASD 535 aspirating smoke detectors. Besides Amazon Torrazza, Securiton has delivered aspirating smoke detection to numerous Amazon sites in UK, Germany and Sweden.
