24th IWMA Conference reflects growing interest in Water Mist

The 24th IWMA Conference water mist event in Manchester has set new records, showcasing the growing worldwide interest in water mist fire suppression. Organized by the International Water Mist Association (IWMA), the conference gathered nearly 180 delegates from over 25 countries, with strong participation from Asia and the Americas.

This year’s programme emphasised the role of water mist systems in protecting people and infrastructure, with case studies covering Notre Dame Cathedral, new applications in high-rise buildings, and the enforcement of EN 14972 in the UK. Sir Ken Knight opened the event, underlining how water mist technology is shaping modern firefighting strategies.

• The updated Standard Matrix – clarifying test protocols for water mist system approvals.
• “Mistconceptions” – an IWMA initiative tackling common misunderstandings about water mist systems with evidence-based answers.
