AQUASYS water mist fire fighting system

Fire fighting efforts for rolling stock are divided into two emphases, protection of engines, motors, generators, control systems and under carriage areas on the one hand and the protection of passenger cabins on the other. The characteristics of rolling stock make high demands on suitable and efficient emergency concepts and on the fire protection, too. Fire protection concepts need to consider the inaccessibleness of the scene of fire for most of the cases as well as the required escape times for passengers and the intervention time for emergency services to prevent catastrophic consequences from just a fire in one vehicle.

An active water mist system for fire suppression together with a suitable fire detection in rolling stock form an additional stage to efficient fire protection as part of the entire loss prevention strategy of the railway opera-tor. The AQUASYS water mist system holds certificates, permits and test- reports from internationally ac-credited testing and certification institutes.

Due to the small water demand of water mist systems, these systems can be easily installed undercarriage or on the roof and even in intermediate ceilings of passenger compartments.
